D R I F T
a museum bench byJasonKoharik 2015
Often the only object occupying the center of the void— white walled, gilded framed landscapes. In the rare occasion, alone in the museum, these islands, are often my most desired object in the room. A life-raft, adrift.  Solid hardwood iroko with unique 5° pitch angle, splayed out like an open book— allowing a subtle shift towards center.  Designed to bring two people closer together. A design I sketched almost a decade ago, a cherished visit to the MET. —
Shown with Cabaret floor lamp & Girandole candle sconce.

—So angels say — on yesterday —
Just as the dawn was red
One little boat — o’erspent with gales —
Retrimmed its masts — redecked its sails —
And shot — exultant on!—
