There is an ancient ceremonial folk practice. A ritualistic Chinese imperial court dance where the flowing silk of elongated sleeves of the dancers garments become a gestural expression of water. Made visually more recognizable in modern day as rhythm gymnastics, a popular Olympic event. It is the flowing nature of this sacred dance that has evoked this chairs attempt to capture a single rise and whip, a gentle flit and float on air at its crown and base— A seat, as one contour without a start or finish. A brushstroke. A cresting wave.
