FIND ME HERE I

This is a game, I post on my Instagram stories. An old game from my past. I have been collecting objects (abandoned and discarded) from the streets of Los Angles and returning them as pieces of art.

I “design” or better conceive a chair, a lamp, a painting or sculpture every day of my life. I am grateful. I love what I do. I am not a designer. Each morning, or in the middle of the night, or the hours on an airplane I draw and I write. There are endless stacks of sketch books in my life. Some of these pieces I make. I complete them and apply them to projects with the talents of the incredible designers I have been honored to work with. These pieces get a “price point” and a “ lead time” and a “trade discount.”
But I am also a collector. I don’t collect things because they have value. The things have value because I collect them.

I believe that applies to the pieces that I create. I am often asked to give something for free to a project. Part of “The game we all have to play. “ A common phrase.

I always smile and think of This game I used to play.

These Chairs are Free. Made from found scrap wood and plaster. It took me two days to make it and 10 seconds to conceive.
One of the great things about having a 5 year old son is Remembering how to remember... Every stick and rock he digs up is a dinosaur bone. A Fossil with a fantastic history. Emphatically.
I was always a treasure hunter as a boy. Words like Artifact and Relic and Ruin turned me on. Art is what I love. So I am an Artist. - If this chair speaks to you, it is out there, placed in this vast enormously small town, and it is yours to have.
