~ 60”x60” Walkie Tape on Canvas
by Jason Koharik
Finished sometime in 2010.
-As a production assistant, in my early twenties, I was accountable at the end of each shoot day for collecting each crew members walkie-talkie. Identified only by an often colorful piece of camera tape with a name, a department, and a corresponding number. To this day I still give credit to this method of accounting, to a 9 fingered friend I called the “burglar”. I saved each piece of tape in a binder. Collecting as many people as I could, most that I ever worked with.... A delighted band of pirates, waiting for me at the gate of the truck, smoking cigarettes and staring at their watches... so they could get home and at least get 3 hours of sleep before we did it all again the next morning. This was my family. Thank you for supporting my need to make art.
